Feeding Planaria
Here are some simple instructions for feeding your planaria. The most important thing is to provide fresh water after feeding without contamination from the planarias' food.
Put pieces of raw beef liver and hard-boiled egg yolk with the planaria. Pieces should be a few mm (or about 1/4 inch) across. Leave the food in with the worms for about 30 minutes.
While the worms are feeding, clean out the bottom half of the petri dish and fill 1/2 to 2/3 full with clean spring water. |
After 30 minutes of letting the planaria feed, transfer them to the clean water in the bottom part of the petri dish. Try to avoid getting pieces of egg or liver with the worms, but if you do, try to remove what you can from the clean water. Clean the lid, wipe dry, and place over your planaria.
Planaria should be fed and water changed once weekly. |
